Happy International Women’s Day

We’re not equal, we are special =)

Please don't complain unless you have a uterus that carries such a big job and responsibility ;D

Today is the International Women’s Day, so I’d like to give tribute to the iconic women who have made impact on the world. Herewith is the list of some women in history who are my true role models and inspiration. These icons have brought revolution in their own way with their own kick ass style.

1. Coco” Chanel (19 August 1883 – 10 January 1971)

“A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”

A fashion revolutionist, a true manizer, workaholic, successful entrepreneur… what more could you ask for? This stubborn lady “taught” women how to dress casually and freely, while still looking chic and elegant. What lunatic says women must suffocate under those tight corsages?

2. Amelia Mary Earhart (July 24, 1897; missing July 2, 1937)

“The woman who can create her own job is the woman who will win fame and fortune.”

The first aviatrix to fly a plane across the Atlantic. She was once a nurse, photographer, truck driver, stenographer, clothing line owner, Cosmo editor,  she’s done it all! Earhart referred to her marriage as a “partnership” with “dual control” and refused to change her last name to her husband’s, Putnam. She may be non-committal to a man, but never to her dreams (a must learn lesson! -_-).

3. Marilyn Monroe (June 1, 1926 – August 5, 1962)

“Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition.”

A legendary actress who is “very shy and very sweet and far more intelligent than people gave her credit for”.

Her sex appeal and beauty is what gotten her into massive fame, and she clearly knows how to use it. Being a “feminist in disguise”, her figure is adored by both male and female, until today. Women are inspired by the fact that a sex symbol can be so vulnerable and complex inside, while men drool over her.. well, intelligence 😆

4. Sylvia Plath (October 27, 1932 – February 11, 1963)

A living doll, everywhere you look.
It can sew, it can cook.
It can talk, talk, talk.
It works, there is nothing wrong with it.
You have a hole, it’s a poultice.
You have an eye, it’s an image.
My boy, it’s your last resort.
Will you marry it, marry it, marry it.

“The Applicant” (1966)

The power of her poetries always gives me goosebumps. A talented writer/author with such dramatic and intriguing life. I find myself wanting to murder her husband everytime I am reminded of what he’s done to her. Of course I’m just kidding… (no I’m not).

5. Gwen Stefani (born October 3, 1969)

“I want to be a guy, but I want to wear a lot of makeup.”

The role model for today’s generation. She’s a singer, a songwriter, she owns a clothing line, married to a rockstar, a mother, and always a trend setter. No matter how weird her latest styles look like, I’d always find her interesting and fascinating. Everything seems right if she‘s doing it  =)

What I don’t envy

I envy the butterflies, flitting guiltlessly, from one pretty flower to another.

I envy the raindrops, falling freely, without the slightest fear of the powerful gravity.

I envy the happy old lady, selling crops and seeds with a smile, certain that God won’t leave her even just for a while.

I envy the children running along, laughing as loud as they might, telling stories with nothing to imply.

I envy the moonlight, the sunlight, how generous they are to share rays of life, without any grudge holding them from giving their all.

And I envy the hearts, who still trust even though they’ve been crushed.
The forgiving smiles even though betrayals have damaged them much.
The hopes in their eyes, as if nothing can shatter their beliefs, as if nothing is ever worth their over grief.

I don’t envy kisses and cuddles, only portrayed to hide the emptiness inside.
Or owning acquaintances who exist and persist in the hopes that people realize and want to be part of the disguise.
I don’t envy companions, prides, degrees, statuses, accomplishments that are nothing but shiny, polished misery.
Exhibited only to conceal what soul really lies underneath.

For this year, for this new year… I wish to achieve the essence of what I envy still, and be avoided from things that I never will.

So here we are taking our bow, hopefully with knowledge in our head and wisdom in our eye,
Welcoming the beginning of you, and gladly waving 2009 goodbye.

Reach The Sky

I try to reach the sky
Along with the choices passing me by
By not deciding only one
Does it mean we’ll be achieving but none?

Is it commitment when we commit to many?
Or is it wrong and simply greedy?

Confusion within contemplation
Too tired even just to reason
You stand there right in between
Accomplishing what seems to be unseen

I try to reach the sky
The choices keep passing me by
Hold on tight to all these branches
Taking the plenty, the golden chances

“There’s one sad truth in life I’ve found, while journeying east and west.
The only folks we really wound, are those we love the best.
We flatter those we scarcely know, we please the fleeting guest.
And deal full many a thoughtless blow, to those who love us best.”

(Ella Wheeler Wilcox)

Filosofi Kuaci*

Menikmati dirimu
Sungguh tak bisa berhenti aku
Manis kurasa, meski tiada berguna
Tapi tetap tak dapat berhenti aku

Sampai akhirnya,
tinggal pedih yang terasa

Jenuh akan rasamu
Lelah akan permainanmu

Aku pun bertanya-tanya,
Inikah makna dirimu?

Tak berisi,
Dan hanya membuang-buang waktu?

Kala durjana menimpa
Kala badai melanda
Kala impian telah sirna
Kala hati tiada bahagia

Kemana harus ku berlabuh
Bila hidup tak lagi indah
Saat mimpi kian menjauh
Dan yang tersisa hanyalah gundah

Kala wajah tak lagi tertawa
Kala siang tak kunjung menjelma
Kala hidup hanya nestapa
Kala tangis tiada berguna

Harus ku bertahan hadapi semua
Namun itu tidaklah mudah
Harus ku tegar menerimanya
Namun sulit untuk berpasrah

Kala kelabu menghantui
Kala hari tak lagi berpelangi
Kala air mata jatuh tak bertepi
Kala hidup hanya untuk mati
